EXAMPLE: In the type of quantity "mass of protein in 24-hour urine", "protein" is the analyte. In "amount of substance of glucose in plasma", "glucose" is the analyte. In both cases the longer phrase represents the measurand.

Scope note 2

In laboratory medicine, the description of the measurand includes (at least) the name of the quantity (e.g. amount of substance concentration), the component/analyte (e.g. β-D-glucose), and the biological system/matrix in which it is found (e.g. blood plasma).

This refTypes is used to specify the analyte.

In der Laboratoriumsmedizin umfasst die Beschreibung der Messgröße (mindestens) den Namen der Größe (z. B. Stoffmengenkonzentration), die Komponente/den Analyten (z. B. β-D-Glucose) sowie das biologische System/die Matrix, in dem/der sie vorkommt (z. B. Blutplasma).
